Speakers announced for Active London

Sir Muir Gray (University of Oxford, National Health Service) and Professor Yvonne Doyle (Public Health England) are among the first speakers announced for Active London 2018.

Joining Sir Muir and Yvonne will be a cast of leading organisations and experts who will explore the role of physical activity and sport in improving London’s health, wellbeing, prosperity and social integration.  

Keynote addresses from Sir Muir Gray and Professor Yvonne Doyle will set the scene for the day, exploring the evidence base for physical activity and the role of physical activity in combatting health inequalities. 

Discussion group sessions led by a range of renowned national and international organisations including ukactive, Greater Manchester MovingThe Great Outdoor Gym Company, and Healthy London Partnership will provide delegates with a unique environment for roundtable discussion, debate and collaborative thinking across a range of agenda-setting themes: 

  • London’s environment and Physical Activity (in association with the Great Outdoor Gym Company)
  • Physical activity within Londoners’ daily lives (in association with ukactive)
  • The use of a whole systems approach to achieve social outcomes (in association with Greater Manchester Moving)
  • Physical activity and health outcomes (in association with the Healthy London Partnership)

The agenda will offer attendees an opportunity to better understand how they can use physical activity to achieve a broad range of outcomes aligned to their own priorities, and provide opportunities to network with multi-sector organisations to encourage collaboration, co-production and new innovation. 

Active London 2018, which will take place at the Kia Oval on 28 September 2018,  is designed to bring together both traditional physical activity and sport stakeholders with representatives from other sectors, including health, transport, housing, environment, families/CYP, and communities.
